Ware Shoals- Ruby Dickey Poore, 97, widow of John Willie Poore, died Monday, February 25, 2013, at  Oconee Medical Center.

She was born June 29, 1915 in Metter, Ga., the daughter of the late William Horace and Fannie Beasley Dickey. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Ware Shoals, SC and served as Director of Christian Education/Church Secretary for over 30 years.

Survivors include a beloved granddaughter; Heather Poore Barker and husband James David Barker of Seneca, SC, a great-grandson; James “Dylan” Barker, with whom she made her home, brother; Bill Dickey and wife Reba Dickey of Claxton, Ga.,  brother-in-law; Harmon Thrift of Metter, Ga. and a number of nieces and nephews.

Beside her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her beloved son, John Dickey Poore, sisters; Eloise Dickey Poore and Bernice Dickey Thrift.

Services are 2 PM Thursday at First Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Wayne Wicker and the Rev. Frank Cunningham III.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be George Rush, Charles Chasteen, Billy Hudgens, Marion McMahan, Dale Thrift, Glyn Thrift and Ralph Gibson. Honorary escort will be members of the Hebron Ladies Bible Class and Men’s Bible Class.

Visitation will be 1-2 PM Thursday at the church with services following at 2 PM. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, PO Box 542, Ware Shoals, SC 29692.Parker-White Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
