Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Roscoe and Mae Jones Banister. She was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church and was retired from Riegel Textile Co. She was twice married, first to the late James Aiken McClain.

Surviving are a son, James Douglas McClain of Ware Shoals, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Betty M. Cork, two brothers, Jesse E. Banister and J.D. Banister, and a sister, Hazel B. Ashley.

Memorial Graveside services will be held 2 P.M.on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Leon Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.
