Lamar Elledge

Ware Shoals- Ryland Lamar Elledge, 83, husband of Sue Bishop Elledge, of 5483 Poplar Springs Rd., died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, SC.

 

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Ryland and Virginia Elledge Elledge. He was a member and former Deacon of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and was a history teacher at Laurens Jr. High School. He served in the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Navy.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two sons; Marion Elledge of Augusta, GA, and Mike Elledge of the home; one daughter, Millie Tatham and husband Tony of Ware Shoals, and two grandchildren, Abby and Luke Tatham. He was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn Kennemore.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Bruce Ostrom, Rev. Todd Horton, and Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 P.M. Wednesday. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home and will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at Parker-White Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McCall Hospice House, 1836 W Georgia Rd, Simpsonville, SC 29680, or Poplar Springs Cemetery Fund, Box 124, Ware Shoals, SC 29692, Online condolences may be made at www.ParkerWhitePruitt.com.
