Kathryn Armstrong

Ware Shoals- Kathryn Amick Armstrong, 81, widow of Raymond Ralph Armstrong, Jr., of 2549 Dairy Rd., died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

 Born in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Mayben Edgar and Sally Rosabel Shealy Amick. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Laurens and a retired self employed caregiver. Kathryn was the “World’s Greatest Mom,” who went back to school and earned her G.E.D. at age 53. She was a nurturer, encourager, licensed counselor, and a good business woman. She avidly loved animals.

Surviving are: a son, Chris Armstrong and wife Dianne of Hickory Tavern, two daughters, Melony Young and husband Len of Greenwood and Tammy Ziegenfuss and husband Wayne of Ware Shoals, three brothers, Larry Amick of Simpsonville, Bruce Amick of Ware Shoals, and Don Amick of Greenville, two sisters, Nell Davenport of Greenville and Brenda Amick of Ware Shoals, five grandchildren, Austin and Gabrielle Ziegenfuss, Laura Pitts, Seth and Isabella Young, and a great-grandchild, Jalen Rice.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Carroll Amick.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
