Ware Shoals – Eugene Harry Hawkins, Sr., 89, of 226 Gethsemane Circle, passed away Friday, August 16, 2013 at Hospice of the Piedmont.
Born in Ocala, Fl. on June 10, 1924, he was a son of the late Sloan and Connie Frye Hawkins. He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. He was retired from Riegel Textile Co.
Surviving are a son, Gene Hawkins of Ware Shoals, two daughters, Barbara Foster and husband Rudolph of Ware Shoals, and Patsy Snyder and husband Ben of Ware Shoals, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, a special neighbor & “Guardian Angel”, Mary Bayne and a dog named Tater.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 P.M. Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Heather Baird officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tina Thomas officiating.
