Charlie Wilson

Belton – Charlie Monroe Wilson, 69, husband of Sharon Gambrell Wilson, of 3516 Trail Road, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2013 at AnMed Health Center.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Gary D. and Meleeda Banister Wilson. He was a member and former Sunday School Teacher and Deacon of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was retired from the South Carolina Army National Guard.

He was retired as Vice President from the Capital Bank and had served as Vice President of The Commercial Bank, Due West for 24 years. He attended Belton High School and received a BS degree in Business Management from Central Wesleyan College and a graduate degree from the Louisiana State University School of Banking. He served as Past Chairman of the Abbeville County Economic Development Board, member and Past President of both the Honea Path Lions Club and the Honea Path Civitan Club, a member of the Due West Lions Club, Past President and present member of the Abbeville County Rotary Club. He was a Member of the Belton Masonic Lodge # 130 A.F.M. and was past member of the Board of Visitors for both Erskine College and Piedmont Technical College.

Surviving are his wife of the home, a son, Shawn Wilson (Colette) of Anderson, a daughter-in-law, Kelly F. Wilson of Honea Path, a brother, Richard “Hoss” Wilson (Shirley) of Belton, a sister, Elaine Wilson of Greenville, and four grandchildren, Kelci, Katie, Tyler, and Lindsey Wilson. He was pre-deceased by a son, Christopher Kevin Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Tuesday at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. T.W. McGuffin and Rev. Jeremy Colloms officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 P.M. Tuesday at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church prior to the service. The family is at the home. Memorials may be made to Mt.
