Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Floyd A. and Sudie Wilson Ashley. He was a member of Keowee Baptist Church and was a member of Centre Lodge #37 A.F.M. for over fifty years. He was retired from Monsanto.

Surviving are his wife of the home, two sons, Barry Ashley, Jr. and wife Loretta and Mark Ashley and wife Mona, all of Honea Path, a brother, Lester Ashley of Ware Shoals, grandchildren, Michael Smith, Michelle Hopper, Benjamin Ashley and wife Ashley, Tracy Shirley and husband Brandon, Laurie Jefferson and husband Eric, Anthony Ashley and wife Melody, and Matthew Ashley, and eight great-grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased a daughter Deborah Lee Smith,  four brothers, Jeff, Manuel, Pelmon, and Truman Ashley, a sister, Mrs. James (Opal Lee) Stone, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Tuesday at Keowee Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Lee and Rev. Jerry Mize officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

The body is at Pruitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday and will be placed in the church at 2 P.M. Tuesday. The family is at the home. Online condolences may be made at www.ParkerWhitePruitt.com
