Marion Hitt

Ninety Six – Marion Burnett Hitt, 77, husband of Syble Mooney Hitt, of 109 Hollingsworth Road, died Thursday, December 5, 2013 at his home.

 

Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late James Austin and Sarah Elizabeth Gordon Hitt. He was a member of First Damascus Baptist Church and was retired from Greenwood Mills. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve.

Surviving are his wife of the home, three sons; Danny Hitt and wife Dee Dee of West Palm Beach, Fl., William Hitt and wife Tina of Greenwood, and Fletcher Hitt and wife Mandy of the home; two daughters, April Holladay and husband “Doc” of Pensicola, Fl. and Wendy Quarles and husband Tony of Greenwood; three brothers, Robert Hitt, James “Buddy” Hitt, and Lamar Hitt all of Greenwood; three sisters, Mildred Hitt, Inez Powell, and Jeanette Tolbert all of Greenwood; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by two brothers William and Thomas Hitt, and a sister Mrs. Emma Phelan.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday at First Damascus Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Carter and Rev. David Hitt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. Sunday at the church prior to the service.
