Walter Hudson

Ware Shoals – Walter Lee Hudson, 67, husband of Shirley Jean Russum Hudson, of 14939 Indian Mound Road, died Saturday, January 04, 2014 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.

 

Born in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Hoyt L. and Maude Redd Hudson. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where he was Deacon and R.A. leader. He was a former member of the Western Laurens County Fire Department and was retired from The Monsanto Co.

Surviving are his wife of the home, a son, Chris Hudson and wife Tanya of Ware Shoals, a daughter, Melisa (Lisa) Giles and husband Buddy of Abbeville, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a brother, James “Babe” Hudson.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop, Rev. Chris Hudson, Rev. Frank Northcutt, and Rev. Lamar Babb officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family is at the home of a son, Chris Hudson, 14899 Indian Mound Road and will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M.  Monday at Parker-White Funeral Home. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church Family Life Center, 11570 Indian Mound Road, Ware Shoals, SC 29692.
