Sara Gambrell

Honea Path – Sara Williams Gambrell, 86, widow of Rev. Ansel Gambrell, formerly of 3 Roberts Street, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Woodcrest Nursing Home in Elsmere, Ky.

 

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Willie Thomas and Nellie Pitts Williams. She was a homemaker and a member of Chiquola Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Ansel David Gambrell of Independence, Ky.; two daughters, Sandra Nell Gambrell of Independence, Ky. and Patricia Kay Allen of Belmont, Oh.; two sisters, Mary Ellen Saxon and Peggy Simms both of Fork Shoals and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Roy Williams, J.C. “Sonny” Williams, and William “Bill” Williams; and three sisters, Margie Brown, Helen Thurston, and Annie Alman.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday at Chiquola Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Powell and Rev. Joey Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M. Saturday at Pruitt Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 1 PM Sunday.
