Roger Banister

Honea Path – Roger Duke Banister, 74, of 7 Oak Drive, husband of the late Minnie “Moochie” White Banister, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at National Health Care of Anderson.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Jesse (Bill) and Dana Pruitt Banister. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Ware Shoals. He was retired from Smith and Waters, Ware Shoals and a veteran in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are: three daughters, Dee Dee Hanks and husband Scott of Anderson, Tracey McCall of Piedmont, Dina Sosa and husband Fernando of Charlotte, NC; two sons, Jason Shirley and wife Angie and Jeremy Shirley all of Piedmont; two step-sons, Grady Davis and wife Debbie and Joe Davis of Ware Shoals; one step-daughter, Ann D. Campbell and husband Allen of Greenwood; two sisters, Shelby Hopper and Beverly Green; eight grandchildren, Casey Martin, Ivy McCall, Travis Hanks, Daniella Fry, Julianna Sosa, Bry Willard, Logan McCall and Andy Shirley; ten great-grandchildren, Jaylen, Powell, Barrett, Madison, Caleb, Jairus, Kinley, Edda, Nora and Miles.

He was predeceased by a grandchild, Noah Shirley and a step-son, Jim Davis.

Graveside Services will be held 3PM at Oakbrook Memorial Park on Saturday with Rev. Hans Wunch and Rev. Ron Culbertson officiating.
