Marie Free
Ware Shoals – Virginia Marie Madden Free, 97, formerly of Brissie Rock Road, widow of Carroll Lockard Free, died Saturday at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore.
Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late James Madden and Lydie Wells Madden. She was retired from Riegel Textile Co. and had attended Reedy Grove Pentecostal Church.
Surviving are two sons; Alfred Ben Free and wife Silver of Waterloo and James Marion Free and wife Edna of Maryland., seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Floyd Emmett Free and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Graveside services will be 11 AM Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Greg Holladay. The family will speak to friends after the graveside service.
