Mary Vaughn Davis

Ware Shoals – Mrs. Mary Vaughn Davis, 94, entered into her Heavenly Home on Sunday December 21, 2014 at the Hospice House of Anderson surrounded in love by her family.

Mrs. Mary was born on May 9, 1920, the daughter of Harley and Pearle Alene Vaughn.  She graduated from Honea Path High School and attended Spartanburg Nursing School in 1936.  She was preceded in death by her late husband of 62 years, Mr. I.T. Davis.  Together Mary and I.T. owned and operated The Davis Steak House of Honea Path for 40 years.  She was a lifelong member of Honea Path First Baptist Church where she let her light shine a beacon of God’s love to all who encountered her.  She was an active participant in the church teaching Sunday school for over 50 years and cooking Wednesday night suppers for all.  She was a Godly woman with a humorous soul, loving heart and generous hands.  She was well known mostly for her famous fried chicken, hot chocolate rolls and honey soppin biscuits.

She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Tommy Davis and wife Cathy of Ware Shoals, Ronnie Davis and wife Brenda of Honea Path, Gloria Goldman and husband Henry of Aiken, Mary Alice Cobb of Honea Path, Richard Davis of Ware Shoals and Sherrill Mitchell of Clarkesville, Ga.  Mrs. Mary was a proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 1PM Tuesday at Honea Path First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Moody officiating.  Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.  The family will receive friends from 11 – 1PM at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to Honea Path First Baptist Church in Mary’s honor.  The family will be at their respective homes.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.parkerwhitepruitt.com
