Maxie Smith

Belton – Maxie ‘Mack” Franklin Smith, 81 husband of Dorothy Elizabeth Brooks Smith of 10644 Augusta Road died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at his home.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Charles Matthew Smith and Lula Mae Phillips Smith. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills, was a member and Deacon Emeritus of Columbia Baptist Church, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a former member of the Pelzer Rescue Squad.

Surviving are his wife of the home, two sons; Kenneth Smith and wife Wanda of Belton and Maxie Joe Smith and wife Judy of Honea Path; one sister; Betty Burns of High Point N.C.; two grandchildren, Misty Cisson and husband Larry and Jennifer Barnes and husband Chris; five great-grandchildren, Charli, Jacob, Carter and Boone Cisson and Hanna Barnes. He was predeceased by six brothers, Grover, Roy, Grady, Pearly, James Thomas and William Lee Smith and three sisters, Beulah Ballard, Rachel Day and Ella Parker.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday at Columbia Baptist Church with Rev. Scotty Hendricks and Rev. Carroll Caldwell officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
