Sudie Cooper

Ware Shoals – Sudie Virginia Prince Cooper, 80, wife of J.E. Cooper, of 143 South Greenwood Ave. died Friday, February 19, 2016 at Morningside Assisted Living in Greenwood.

Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late William Lonzo and Nola Marion Gambrell Prince. She was a member of the Ware Shoals First Baptist Church and was retired as Chief of Police from the Ware Shoals Police Department. She was a member of the Star Fort and the Rolling S Ladies Golf Associations.

Surviving are her husband of Laurens, two sons, Johnny Cooper (Cynthia) of Summerville and Gary D. Ashley (Teresa) of Honea Path, a brother, Lonnie Joe Prince of Donalds, six grandchildren, Trey Cooper, Cory Townsend, Tracy Wood, Nicole Raines, Bryce Cooper, and Jack Cooper, and five great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by two daughters, Irene Holliway and Vickie Inglehart, two brothers, Clayton and Coley Dan Prince, and a sister, Lucille Phillips.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday at Ware Shoals First Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Jones and Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home of a son, Gary Ashley, 108 Scoby Road, Honea Path and will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. Sunday at the Church prior to the service.
