Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Will M. and Ola Nabors Smith. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church of Honea Path, the Bascomb Lodge #363, and the O.E.S. He was retired from Riegel Textile Co, where he worked in the shop.
Surviving are a son Jerry Ray Smith and wife Bootsie of Hodges, three brothers, John, George, and Buck Smith all of Hodges and a grandson Bob Abrams of Hodges.
Funeral services will be held at 4 P.M. Sunday at Parker-White Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Robinson officiating. Private Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 3 to 4 P.M. Sunday at Parker-White Funeral Home prior to the service. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Abbeville Nursing Home and Hospice of the Piedmont. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 408 W.
