Patsy Martin

Honea Path – Mrs. Patricia Diane Rogers Martin, 68, wife of Robert Addison Martin, of 922 Austin Road, died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Rainey Hospice House.

She was the daughter of the late Vernon J. Jr. and Lollie McMillan Rogers.  She was a member of Barkers Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member of The Encouragers Sunday School Class. Patsy was a member of the Honea Path High School Class of 1966. She was a graduate of Anderson University with an Associate of Arts Degree, Erskine College with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, and The University of South Carolina with a MLIS Masters Degree. She was the Director of Afterschool Programs with Anderson School District #2 until her retirement after 43 years of service. Patsy was a proud member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority where she served as Chaplain of the South Carolina Chapter. She was a member of the South Carolina School Librarians Association, a Watson Center Board Member, and was the 2013 Honea Path Civitan Club Citizen of the Year.

Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are two sons, Joey (Nacole) Martin and Patrick (Shannon) Martin all of Honea Path; one daughter, Suzanne Creel of Honea Path, six grandchildren, Kala, Karisa, Kylie and Averie Martin, and Erik and Ethan Young all of Honea Path.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Barkers Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Taylor and Rev. Dr. Bob Miller officiating.  Burial will follow in Garden of Memories.   

The family is at the home of her son, Joey Martin, 932 Austin Rd, and will receive friends from 1 – 3 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service.
