Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Carroll Brown and Emma Kathleen Vaughn Gambrell. He was a member of Rocky River Baptist Church, and was retired from his work as a flooring installer.
In addition to his wife of the home, Mr. Gambrell is survived by one son: Gary Preston Gambrell and wife Donna of Donalds; one daughter: Wanda Sue Davis and husband Don of Greenwood, four grandchildren: Jessica Moore, Michelle New, Anna Buckland, and Austin Maxwell; and four great-grandchildren: Abigail Moore, Ethan Moore, Hudson New and Stella Maxwell.
He was preceded in death by one brother: Bobby Lewis Gambrell and one sister: Elizabeth “Lib” Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 30th at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Bobby Jones and Chaplain Deloris Rapp officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
