Born in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late John Sr., and Lillian Lawson Howard. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Howard was a two time Past Grand Master of the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows and Rebecca's. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are: two sons, Darroll (Laurie) Howard of Blacksburg and Dwayne Howard of Laurens, his daughter, Janice Howard of Fountain Inn, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, and his caregiver, Aaron Campbell of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ralph Howard, and four sisters, Lucille Godfrey, Gertrude Payton, Pearl Gibson, and Shirley Walker.
As per Mr. Howard’s wishes, no services are planned.
