Born in Plattsburg NY, he was the son of Betty Cressey Santiago and the late Raphael W. Strickland. He was a veteran of the US Army and worked at G.E. Gas Turbine in Greenville. Ray was a loving husband and father, and was an avid fisherman. He was a lifetime member of Bass Anglers Sportsman Society.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 38 years of the home and his mother of Honea Path are: his son, Ray (Crystal) Strickland, II of Honea Path, two daughters, Heather Hanson of New York and Sarah (Greg) Smith of Austin TX, his sister, Janet Bice of Sedalia, MO, his uncle, Michael (Connie) Geiger of Franklin NC, and six grandchildren, Michael, Hillary, Brielle, Issac, Emily and Julia.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 P.M. Monday, January 22, 2018 at Pruitt Funeral Home, Honea Path. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the South Carolina Wildlife Federation, 215 Pickens St., Columbia, SC 29205.
