Jerry Baker

Ware Shoals – Gerald “Jerry” Frederick Baker, 76, of 6 West Summit Drive, husband of Henrietta Vaughn Baker, died Saturday, May 5, 2018.

 

Born in Lafayette, IN, he was a son of the late Emmett Lee and Helen Abbott Baker. He was a member of AugustaRoadUnitedMethodistChurch and was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was retired from General Electric. Jerry loved his family, golf, and especially enjoyed the family trips to Daytona Beach, FL.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 56 years of the home are: three daughters, Janice (David) Hughey of Piedmont; Helen (Danny) Hanley of Ware Shoals; and Lisa Bachemin of Tampa, FL, three sisters, Mary McCutcheon of Yucca Valley, CA; Joann Emerick  of West Lafayette, IN; and Joyce Burke of Richmond, VA, two great-grandchildren raised in the home, Reagan and Myles Nelson, eight grandchildren, five other great-grandchildren, and his special furry companion, Lola.

He is preceded in death by six brothers, Robert, Bill, Jack, Max, Lyn, and David Baker, a sister, Betty Garrett, and a granddaughter, Tiffany La’Shae Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Augusta Road United Methodist Church with Rev. James Patterson and Lay Speaker Janice Hughey officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
