Mary Kennedy

Honea Path – Mary Martin Evans Kennedy, 67, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, August 8, 2018,

 

She was born to Gale and Cecil Evans in Lubbock, Texas. Her family lived in Southern California for 26 years before moving East.

Mary was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she worked, played and prayed with many good friends. She was a member of the Ladies Circle and The Exodus Sunday School Class. Mary was a travel agent for 10 years. She retired from AnMed Health South where she was a Respiratory Therapist for 19 years. She delivered for Meals on Wheels and was a member of a local book club.

Surviving is her husband, Ronnie, whom she described as the man God made for her, her sister Gale Empey and husband Chip and her cousin Russ Martin, who was more like a brother to her. Mary and Ronnie blended a family of 5 wonderful people, all precious to her. Mary’s daughters are Christy Clausen, Cory Clausen Kabel, and Meggie Welborn Nelson and her husband Kevin. Her children from another mother are Brad Kennedy and his wife Christina, Bethany Kennedy Wiley and her husband Sam. She counts Tonya King McCullough as her daughter number 4.

Her 10 grandchildren always made her sparkle. These gifts to her heart are Zachary Clausen and Jacob Vaughn, Cameron Nickles and Laci Kabel, Grant Nelson, Ethan and Mason Kennedy, Ian and Jack Wiley, and honorary grandson Seth McCollough. Little Skyla Rae Nickles made her a great-grandmother, bringing the total to 11 people who call her Grammy.

Mary enjoyed many hobbies. She loved to work in her garden, plan family gatherings, and spend time with her family and friends. She loved her special time with Ronnie having coffee on the back porch.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Gayle Summey and Rev. Jim Patterson officiating.

The family is at the home and will receive friends immediately following the service in the church social hall. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, PO Box 483, Honea Path, SC 29654, or to The Alzheimers Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd, Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621.
