J.P. "Sonny" Davis

Honea Path – James Pelham “Sonny” Davis of 113 Samuel Road, husband of Glenda Fisher Davis, went to be with The Lord on Wednesday, August 15, 2018.

Born in 1943, he was a son of the late J. Pelham and Martha Clamp Davis. He was also preceded in death by his brother, J. Henry “Beaver” Davis.

Sonny was a long time member, deacon and trustee of Honea Path First Baptist Church. He was retired from BASF-Anderson Plant after 33 years and never missed a day’s work. He served on Honea Path Town Council for 17 years with a perfect attendance record. At his retirement from Council, he was recognized with resolutions from the Town, County, and State. Sonny enjoyed serving his community, his church, and his fellow man in anyway he could. He readily volunteered his time to help coach softball and activities for the town and his church. He was an avid, lifelong Chevrolet NASCAR fan. Sonny was a great provider and supporter of his family. Above all, the most loved role he played was as G-Pa to his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 55 years of the home are: two daughters, Dee Davis and Heather (“Kip”) Fallaw, both of Honea Path; two grandchildren, Kipper Davis Fallaw and Keelee Grayce Fallaw; and special family friend, Karen Ashley.

Funeral service will be held at 3:22 P.M., (22 was Sonny’s favorite number), Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Honea Path First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Moody officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories.

The family is at the home and will receive friends from 1-3 P.M. Sunday in the church fellowship hall prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Honea Path First Baptist Church Building Fund, 100 S. Main St., Honea Path, SC 29654.
