Born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of the late Gerald Royden Mitchell,Sr. and Sarah Adair Mitchell Simpson. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He was retired from the Engineering Department of Self Regional Healthcare. He was a former Boy Scout Leader, Troop 62.
Surviving are his wife of the home, two sons, James Corey Mitchell of Ware Shoals and Jaryd Harden Mitchell(Elizabeth) of Greenwood, a daughter, Kalen Warden (Zach) of Simpsonville, a brother, Jimmy Mitchell (Glenda) of Huntsville, AL., a sister, Vickie Bailey (Will) of Ware Shoals, and four grandchildren, Avari, Cilla, Cora Jane, and Bennett Mitchell. He was pre-deceased by a son, Brian Shaun Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
