Born April 16, 1927, in Honea Path, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Alfred W. and Abbie Bolyne Arnold Sharpe. She graduated from Honea Path High School in 1944. In 1946, she married Arthur W. “Dub” Strickland who predeceased her in 1989. She was also predeceased by her three brothers, William E. Sharpe, Frank A. Sharpe, John Wayles Sharpe and one grandson, Seth Arthur Elledge.
Mary Ann was employed by Piggly Wiggly, Park Pharmacy and retired from Dr. Don Peoples’ office in 1997 at age 70.
She was a member of Mt Bethel United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Boyd Bobo Chapter #144 Order of the Eastern Star in Ware Shoals.
She is survived by her three daughters, Alleen S. Ernst (Bill) of West Columbia, Juanita S. Elledge, Maxine S. Owens (Randy) of Ware Shoals, three grandsons, James R. White III, William A. Elledge III (Diane), Tobin R. Williamson (Kimberly), One granddaughter, Keely E. Simmons ( Shane), three great-grandchildren, Hailey Williamson, Shawn Williamson and Sully Simmons.
Private graveside funeral services were held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Mt Bethel United Methodist Church. Due to her love of cats, the family requests that any memorials or donations be made the Greenwood Humane society, 2820 Airport Rd, Greenwood, SC 29649
