Elmer lived his entire life in the Ware Shoals area and married his childhood sweetheart, Nancy Sue Anderson, on August 8, 1946.

He worked in the textile industry in various departments for most of his working life, including twelve years at the Riegel Textile Corporation. Elmer loved everything about Clemson Tiger football and took great pride in his family and home. He attended both the West Main Street Church of God and the Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Nancy Sue; five children, Leroy Allen (Julia) of Greensboro, NC, Randy Allen (Robin) of Greenwood, SC, Donna Turner of Moore, SC, Robbie Henderson (Dink) of Donalds, SC, and Craig Allen (Renee) of Whippany, NJ; twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Family, friends and others whose lives Elmer touched are invited to visit with the family at the West Main Street Church of God in Ware Shoals on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 12:30 to 2 PM followed by services remembering Elmer's life and in sharing thankfulness for God's faithfulness at 2 PM.
