Ellen Irby

Honea Path – Eleanor “Ellen” Ruth Gambrell Irby, 73, wife of James Carey “Pete” Irby, of Barkers Creek Road, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Self Regional Medical Center.

 

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late John and Jessie Sharpe Gambrell. She was a faithful member of Jones Chapel Church of God of Prophecy and a homemaker. Mrs. Irby retired from Anderson School District 2.

Surviving in addition to her devoted husband of 59 years of the home are: two daughters, Sandra Denise Irby of Williamston and Stephanie Dawn Irby of Honea Path; two grandchildren, Brandy (DJ) Haynes and Jessica (Bryan) Roth; and three great-grandchildren, Hannah Smith, Michael “Jake” Smith, and Charlotte Roth.

Mrs. Irby was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Carey Anthony Irby; three brothers, Marion, Johnny, and Robert Dennis; and two sisters, Patricia Page and Dorothy Fay Seawright.

Graveside services will be held at 4 P.M. Friday, September 4, 2020 at Garden of Memories with Rev. Keith Crocker officiating. Social distancing and face masks are required.
