Born in Greenville County, he was a son of Addie Othelia McClain New and the late George Thomas New, Sr.
Surviving in addition to his mother of the home are: three brothers, Roy McClain of McCormick, Leonard McClain and Terry McClain both of Pickens; two sisters, Rhonda Kelley of Belton and Christie Church of Boiling Springs; and a nephew, Corey New of Boiling Springs, and special aunt and caregiver, Etta McClain. Mr. New was preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Linda New and Pamela New.
