Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of Madeline Taylor Vaughn. He attended Ware Shoals First Baptist Church and was a retried Brick Mason. He was twice married, first to the late Patricia Rhodes Vaughn.
Surviving are his wife of the home, two sons, Jeremy Alan Brooks (Hope) of Bradley and James Dean Palmer (Lynn Koon) of Ware Shoals, a daughter, Jennifer Jewell Taylor (Bill) of Greenwood, six grandchildren, Nicholas Owens, Kaytee Simmons, Savanna Lynn Logan, Preston Logan, Mason Merritt, and Kylie Merritt, and special nieces, Millie Brock Smith, Darlene Brock Cole, Sandy Brock Hughes, and Lisa Weathers McCoy.
He was predeceased by his mother, first wife, a son, Harold Leroy Vaughn, and two brothers, Wesley and William Vaughn.
