Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late James Frank and Viola Friar Smith. He was a member of Calvary Baptist and a veteran of the U.S. Army, Vietnam War. He was retired from Smith Brothers Wrecker Service.
Surviving are a son, Greg Smith (Amanda) of Waterloo, a daughter, Kristi Smith of Iva, two brothers, Jack Smith and Bill Smith (Becky), both of Ware Shoals, a sister, Evelyn Uldrick of Ware Shoals, six grandchildren, Joseph, Katie, Tori, Jacob, David, and Leah and one great grandson, Tyler.
In addition to his wife and parents he was pre-deceased by a brother, Ray Smith and a sister Frankie Yomans.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Nix, Rev. Lamar Babb, and Rev, Mike Smith officiating. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow at 3 PM in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
