Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Douglas McBride and Sara Lee Kowalski Drake. He was a faithful member of Honea Path First Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and on numerous committees. He was a veteran of the South Carolina National Guard and a member of Centre Lodge #37 A.F.M for more than 50 years and was Past Master. Mr. Drake was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for more than 25 years, and he retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass after 41 years.
Surviving are: his son, David Drake of McCormick; his daughter, Cheryl (Chris) Owen of West Columbia; his brother, Lamar (Connie) Drake of Anderson; and his beloved granddaughter, Sara Beth Owen of Greenwood.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Honea Path First Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Dickerson officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in Garden of Memories.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 1-2:30 P.M. Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
