Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late John Edward and Ilar Smith Hayes. She was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Ruth Hodges of Greenwood, five grandchildren, several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons, David and Daniel Ashmore, a daughter, Nancy Brown, four brothers, Edward, Bud, Frank, and Bill Hayes, and three sisters, Frances McGaha, Cora Hannah, and Kathryn Whatley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Parker-White Funeral Home Chapel, Ware Shoals with Rev. Leon Jones officiating. Private Entombment in Oakbrook Memorial Park will follow at a later date.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM on Thursday at Parker-White Funeral Home prior to the service.
