Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Jim Tom and Rossie Davis Banister. He attended Keowee Baptist Church, and was retired from his work in maintenance at Duke Power. He served in the SC Army National Guard.
Mr. Banister is survived by four sons: Mike Banister of Anderson, Danny Banister of the home, Dwaine Banister (Karen) of Honea Path and Jason Banister of Columbia; one daughter: Angie Durham (Scott) of Salem; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Carl Banister and Tommy Robinson; five sisters Patricia Morrison, Mamie Galloway, Jennie Pait, Edith Hughes, and Elizabeth Baldwin; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, August 22 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel, Honea Path with Rev. Rickey Knight and Rev. Scott Durham officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 – 2:30 PM at Pruitt Funeral Home prior to the service. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.ParkerWhitePruitt.com.
