Janet Campbell Ramey

Houston – Janet Campbell Ramey 70, died following a brief illness, with her son and brother by her side, on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Brookdale Assisted Living, Houston, TX.

 

Born in Beauford, SC, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ansel and Edith Louise Mabry Campbell. Janet was a proud lifelong member of Honea Path Presbyterian Church. Immediately after graduating high school she worked as the assistant to Pete Dugan Photography, and later retired after working several decades at the Honea Path Glove Plant.

Surviving are: a son, Charles Andrew Ramey (Lana) Ramey of Greenwood; her brother, Charles Leonard (Suellen) Campbell of Houston; granddaughter Savannah Ramey of Honea Path; nieces Hilary Campbell (Bryan) Arnwine and Ryan Elizabeth Campbell (Stephen) Anson of Trophy Club, TX.; nephew Charles Alexander (Tracy) Campbell of Houston; as well as great-nephews Barrett Arnwine and Eliot Anson; and great-nieces Campbell Arnwine and Cora Anson.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Berry Austin Ramey, Sr., and her son, Berry Austin Ramey, Jr.

Janet was a graduate of Belton-Honea Path High School (‘69). She was an avid line dancer, clogger and Gamecock fan. Janet was a favorite resident of Brookdale Assisted Living in Houston, where she had resided for the previous ten years. She will be greatly missed by her Texas family, and numerous S.C. family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Garden of Memories with Rev. Deborah Broadwell officiating. 


The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Pruitt Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Honea Path Presbyterian Church, PO Box 512, Honea Path, SC 29654.
