Katie Hanks

Honea Path – Katie Cooley Hanks, 95, widow of Joe W. “Billy” Hanks, of Murray Ave. died Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Anmed Health Center.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Dora Holliday Cooley. She was a member of Barkers Creek Baptist Church. She was retired after 48 years from Chiquola Mfg. Co.

Surviving are two sons, Steve Hanks (Rhonda) of Honea Path and Scott Hanks (Kelly) of Edisto Beach, a daughter, Linda Vaughn of Honea Path, a brother, Henry Cooley of Honea Path, a sister, Peggy Rainey of West Pelzer, five grandchildren, Stephanie Covan (Jim), Matt Hanks (Ashley), Jonathan Hanks, Phillip Hanks (Kayla), and Chris Vaughn (Katherine), and eleven great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a son Joe Hanks, a son-in-law, Doug Vaughn, three brothers, John, Sam, and L.J. Cooley, and seven sisters, Geneva Crawford, Margaret King, Minnie Lee Emory, Sue Cooley, Martha Williams, Mary Ruth Cooley, and Bobbie Cooley.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Barkers Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Broadus Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Sunday prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Online condolences may be made at www.ParkerWhitePruitt.com.
