Boots Henderson

Waterloo - Henry Grady “Boots” Henderson, Jr., 92, husband of Dixie Caroline Ashley Henderson, of Pemberton Street, formerly of Ware Shoals, peacefully passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

 

Born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of the late Henry Grady Sr., and Jessie Pitts Henderson. He was a long time member of West Main Street Church of God and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Boots retired from Overnite Trucking after 38 years of service.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 72 years of the home are: a son, Mark (Dee) Henderson of Ware Shoals; a sister, Zell Skinner of Ware Shoals; a grandchild, Tayler Davis; and two great-grandchildren, Bo Grant Davis and Mela Margaret Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews who dearly loved him.

Boots was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Lawrence Henderson, Austin Henderson, Gerald Henderson, Lynn Henderson, and Howard Henderson; and two sisters, Margaret “Billie” Bradshaw and Ada Cooper.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, May 7, 2022 at West Main Street Church of God in Ware Shoals with Rev. Brian Dye officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1-2 P.M. Saturday at the church prior to the service.
