Jimmy Thompson

Honea Path – Jimmy Dee Thompson, 86, widower of Gloria Jean Long Thompson, of Pine Tree Drive, died Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Rainey Hospice House.

 

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Henry Graden, Sr. and Katherine Elizabeth Garrett Thompson. He was a member of Austin Road Baptist Church and was an avid runner earlier in his life. Jimmy formerly worked at Owens-Corning Fiberglass, but retired early after his wife was severely injured in a car accident. He devoted 17 years of his life to caring for her.

Surviving are: two daughters, Gloria (Tom) Caldwell of Inman and Susan (Tim) Busby of Anderson; his brother, Terry (Margaret) Thompson of Mauldin; a brother-in-law, Gerald Woods; a sister-in-law, Stella Thompson; seven grandchildren, Charles Major (Amber) McCoy, III, Adam Lee (Lori) Burdette, Haley (Brandon) Blake, Caleb Busby, Jacob Beistel, Rebecca (Sherman) Rominger, and Emma Busby; and seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Kim Manning; his brother, Henry Graden Thompson, Jr.; and his sister, Kitty Woods.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Austin Road Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Slatten officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories.

The family is at the home of his daughter, Susan, 2021 Due West Hwy, Anderson SC and will receive friends from 2-3 P.M. Sunday at the church prior to the service.
