Doug McMillan

Belton – Roy Douglas “Doug” McMillan, 73, of Belton died Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Rainey Hospice House.

 

Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Roy Berlin and Lannie Frances Smith McMillan. He retired from Fluor Daniel where he worked as a mechanical estimator. He was a graduate of Emory and Henry College, loved playing the guitar, singing, and riding his horses. He was known by his friends as ‘Cowboy Doug’ and was happiest when he was outdoors.

Mr. McMillan is survived by two stepsons: Brian Taylor of Colorado and Cade Frith of Honea Path; four stepdaughters: Robin Amick (Ashley) of Chapin, Erin Rucker, Kristen Green, and Allison Young; his sister Beverly Rowland (Darrell) of Pfafftown, NC, his stepsister Jean Watson of King, NC; and two grandchildren: Courtney Altman (Elliott) and Ashley Amick, Jr. (Kaitlyn).

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Cleve and Mary McMillan.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Saturday, prior to the service at Pruitt Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson SC, 29621, or to Honea Path First Baptist 50 for Faith & Family fund at 100 South Main St., Honea Path SC, 29654.
