Kathryn Bishop Goodbar

Kathryn Bishop Goodbar, 97, widow of Reid Coleman Goodbar, died on January 25th, 2023, in Rock Hill, SC.   She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was born in Laurens County, SC, the daughter of Mae and Carl Bishop.

After graduating high school, Kathryn attended North Greenville College and graduated from Erskine College with a degree in Elementary Education.  She taught First grade in Ware Shoals SC until her retirement in June of 1987. 

She was active in Mount Gallagher Baptist Church participating in children’s Sunday school teaching, women’s circle Groups and Women’s Missionary Union, supporting numerous missionaries through prayer and financial support. 

Surviving are two sons, Dr Robert Goodbar (wife Vicky) of Fort Mill, SC and Dr Tony Goodbar (wife Susan) of Simpsonville, SC; eight grandchildren, Stephen Goodbar (wife Megan) of Rock Hill, Dr. Neal Goodbar (wife Nancy) of Clinton, SC, Dr Blake Goodbar   (wife Jennifer) of Charlotte, NC, Adam Goodbar (wife Jaqueline) of North Bend, WA, Amelia Goodbar of Anderson, SC, Timothy Goodbar of Fountain Inn, SC, Mary Ruth Mahaffey ( husband Richard) of Simpsonville, SC and Kathryn Grace Goodbar of Greenville, SC.  Six Great-Grandchildren are Reid, Coleman, Annabelle, Katie Hope, Henry, and Elizabeth.

Funeral Services will be held 2 PM on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Mount Gallagher Baptist Church, 11570 Indian Mound Road, Ware Shoals, SC, 29692 with Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop, Rev. Nathan Wiles, and Rev. Melvin Hughes officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 PM Monday at the church prior to the service.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, 3302 US Hwy 25, Hodges, SC.
