Born in Laurens County, he was a son of Helen Epps Mitchell and the late James Elbert Epps. He was a member of Chiquola Baptist Church and was retired from the S.C. Department of Transportation.
Surviving are his wife of the home, his mother of Honea Path, two brothers, Stan L. Epps (Annette) of Iva and Toppa K. Epps of Greenville, nieces and nephews, Brandon Epps, April E. Holtzclaw, Justin Pruitt, Rachael Knight, Drew Knight, T. J. Epps, and Malia Epps.
In addition to his father he was predeceased by a brother, D. Steven Epps and a sister, Tonya K. Epps.
