Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Alonzo and Janie Taylor Coker. She was the oldest member of Chiquola Baptist Church, and was retired from her work at Chiquola Manufacturing Company, after forty years of service. Mrs. Mae was a walking history book, and always shared the history of Chiquola Manufacturing and of Honea Path with everyone.
Mrs. Knox is survived by her son John William Knox of Honea Path; three grandchildren: Shawn Marshall Knox (Michelle), John Courtenay Knox and Fred Riley Knox(Kristal), all of Honea Path; and five great-grandchildren: Gabrielle Knox, Caleb Knox, Marissa Knox, Monroe Knox, and Riley Knox. She was predeceased by her parents, her daughter-in-law, Linda Courtenay Knox, two brothers: Jack Coker and Pelham Coker; and two sisters: Lena McGaha Stone and Polly Coker Stanley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Chiquola Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Thomas, Rev. Ronnie Powell, and Dr. Jerry White officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Wednesday at Chiquola Baptist Church prior to the service.
