Born in Laurens, he was a son of the late Logan Cline and Vergie Silvers Jenkins. He was a member and deacon of Friendship Baptist Church where he served for many years in the church’s music ministries. He attended Hickory Tavern High School and was retired from R.M.T., Inc. of Greenville. He was a member of Hartstrings Christian Group. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Fore Golf Club.

Surviving are his wife, Janice, of the home, a son, Larry Richard “Richie” Jenkins, Jr. (Dana) of Honea Path, a daughter, Travis Jenkins Crump (David) of Honea Path, a brother, David Jenkins (Gail) of Honea Path, and four grandchildren, Clayton Jenkins, Dustin Jenkins, Page Hedden (Thomas), and Anna Lawton (Jacob), a brother-in-law, Bobby Reiney of Midland, GA, and a sister-in-law, Ann Jenkins of Hickory Tavern.

He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, Ray Jenkins, L.B. Jenkins, and Charlie Jenkins, and three sisters, Ann Reiney, Betty Jenkins, and Nancy Aultman.

Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Thursday, June 22, 2023 at at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Hunter Ramsey, Rev. Gary Hart, and Rev. Brad Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery.

The family is at the home of his son, Richie, on Shady Grove Road and will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Pruitt Funeral Home.
