Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Edgar and Ethel Mae McCurry Cooley. He was a member of Keowee Baptist Church and a veteran of the South Carolina Army National Guard. Mr. Cooley retired from The Timken Company. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed his goats.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years of the home; his sister, Judy Ormond of Atlanta GA; and special caregivers, Veronica Walker, Lillie, and Diane.
Mr. Cooley was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Roger “Bud” Gerald Cooley, William Cooley, and Jimmy Cooley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Keowee Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 10 – 11 A.M. Saturday at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Keowee Baptist Church Building Fund, 4640 Keowee Rd, Honea Path, SC 29654 or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd, Anderson, SC 29621.
