Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Lewis Grover “L.G.” and Helen Lowe Saxon. He was a member of the Honea Path First Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Honea Path High School, a veteran of the South Carolina Army National Guard, and was retired from CSX Railroad Co. after 38 years of service. After retirement he loved tinkering, woodworking, and frame making.
Surviving are his wife Carol Jo of the home, a daughter, Denise Josephine Saxon Childs of Elberton, a sister Carole Fowler of Spartanburg, a grandson, Samuel E. Childs and his beloved canine friend, Chloe.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel, Honea Path with Rev. Mike Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 PM on Wednesday at Pruitt Funeral Home prior to the service.
