Born in Greer, SC she was a daughter of the late Eugene H. and Effie Hart Davis. She was twice married, first to the late Claude H. Mitchell. She was the oldest member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where she was active in the choir for many years. A 1946 graduate of Ware Shoals High School, she was retired from Riegel Textile Co.
Surviving are her great-grandson, Carter Mitchell, a daughter-in-law, Gloria Mitchell, special family members, Marlene Owings (Jeff) and Vickie Bailey (Will), several nieces and nephews, and several special caregivers.
She was predeceased by two sons, Frank Mitchell and Ronnie Mitchell, two brothers, Carroll Davis and Hugh Davis, a sister, Gladys Jones, and a grandson, Joshua Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Settle officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday at Poplar Springs Baptist Church prior to the service.
