Born in Bronx, New York, he was a son of the late Felipe and Amaila Mendez Acaba. He was a retired Detective with the New York City Police Department. After moving to Honea Path, his was very active in, and much loved by the community.
Surviving are two sons, Phillip Acaba (Dawn) and James Acaba, both of Florida, and four grandchildren, Cecelia, Vivian, James and Alexander.
He was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife, and his sister, Elivra Acaba.
