Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Alvin Dean and Ellie Mae Stevenson Owens. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. A 1974 Graduate of Laurens High School and a 1976 graduate of Piedmont Tech, he was retired after 32 years from the S.C. DOT of Laurens.
Surviving are a son, Joseph “Joey” M. Owens, Jr, of Waterloo, a brother, John A. Owens (Carla) of Liberty, Kentucky and two sisters, Emily Owens Thompson (Ervin) of Simpsonville and Elizabeth Owens Roper of Ft. Inn.
A Gathering of Friend in casual attire will be held from 5 to 8 PM on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Mt. Plesant Baptist Church, Laurens.
