Born in Greenwood, S.C., he was a son of John Randolph Scott and Sharon Edwards Fortney. He was a Trim Carpenter and took great pride in his work. He was an Eagle Scout with Troop 5, and was a member of The Order of the Arrow. Ryan was an avid hunter.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 23 years of the home are: his father Randy Scott and step-mother, Karen Scott of Honea Path; his mother Sharon Fortney and step-father, Wilgus Fortney of Laurens; two beloved daughters; Elise Scott and Kinsey Scott of the home; three brothers, John (Erika) Scott of Honea Path, Charlie (Alexis) Scott of Piedmont, and Rob Taylor of Vero Beach FL; his sister, Katey (Eric) Vaughn of Honea Path; four nephews, Colton Scott, Eric Vaughn, Evan Vaughn, and Lane Bourne; one niece, Ansley Scott; and his best friend, Scott Wilson of Seneca.

Memorial services will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Chiquola Church, 405 Chiquola Ave., with Mr. Steve Wilson, Rev. Jones Brewer and Rev. Tim Jones officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at nationalmssociety.org
