Bobbie Sue Henley

Laurens – Bobbie Sue Darby Henley, 87, widow of John Frank Henley, Sr., formerly of Ware Shoals, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 at Martha Franks Retirement Center.

 

Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Dewey Benjamin and Claytie Tumblin Darby. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Henley was formerly the manager of Hickory Point in Ware Shoals and had also worked at Riegel Textiles. She loved gardening, taking cruises and going to the beach. She especially loved her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Nanny Bobbie”.

Surviving are: three daughters, Kathy (Jud) Storey of Ware Shoals, Pam (Alton) Hart of Simpsonville, and Teresa (Chip) Hamilton of Townville; her daughter in law, Elizabeth Henley of Ware Shoals; ten grandchildren, Chris (Dawn) Storey, Curt (April) Storey, John Henley, Katie Henley, Shane (Jill) Hart, Kayla (Tyler) Hunter, Lauren (Caleb) Carter, Taylor (Jonathan) Cooper, Tiffany (Zach) Howard, and Matthew (Chloe) Hamilton; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild on the way.

Mrs. Henley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, John Frank Henley, Jr.; and her sister, JoAnn Vaughn.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Steve McGaha and Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
