Patricia “Pat” Smith

Honea Path – Patricia “Pat” Louise Whitfield Smith, 81, widow of William Archie Smith, of Earl Shirley Road, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Callie and John Rainey Hospice House.

 

Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late James Curtis and Corrie Ellen Harvey Whitfield. She was a member of Mt Bethel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Mission Friends. Mrs. Smith retired from 2nd Baptist Church in Belton after 32 years of service as the church secretary. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are: two sons, Mitch (Annette) Smith and Chad (Angie) Smith, both of Honea Path; three grandchildren, Austin Cooley, Magan (Matt) Horton, and Erica (Bryar) Fisher; three great-grandchildren, Mattex, Mabel, and MaCoy; her sister-in-law, Nancy Brock; special friend, Tammy Bruce; lifelong friend, Loretta McCurry; and caregivers, Mary Hawthorne, Shamekia Teasley, and Natasha Smith.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, her sister, Mary Jane Haselden, and a nephew, Heath Haselden.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Mt Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Ron Culbertson and Rev. Mark Krieger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is at home and will receive friends from 1 – 2:30 P.M. Tuesday at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America at engage.mymsaa.org or to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org
